Country Couples to Compete in WDSF Games

As the 24 Line Dance athletes prepare for the 2013 World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Games in Kaohsiung, China, we have received exciting news. As of October 2013, Country Couples Dancing will also be included with Line Dancing in all WDSF Games in which our sports are invited. This is a huge milestone in the UCWDC?s vision of Country Couples and Line Dancing becoming Olympic sports. The Games at Worlds 2014 will take place on Thursday, January 2, and will include Line Dance, Couples and Teams competitions. To compete in the Games at Worlds, you must contact your country?s Country and Line DanceSport Federation. Currently there are 11 countries who have member federations: Belgium, Brazil, Catalonia (Spain), France, Ireland, Italy, Korea, Norway, South Africa, UK and the US. These countries may send athletes to compete at the Games at Worlds, in order to qualify to participate in future WDSF games.

This is an exciting time for Country Couples and Line Dancers! Our sports are now recognized on a worldwide level, and are on the road to eventually becoming Olympic Sports. This is an accomplishment all of our dancers can be proud of!
